Offset printing is a widely used printing technique where the inked image is transferred (or offset) from a metal plate to a rubber blanket and then onto the printing surface, usually paper. Here’s an overview of how offset printing works:

1.Image Preparation: The content to be printed is first prepared digitally or photographically. This image is then transferred onto a printing plate using a photosensitive process.

2.Plate Making: The printing plate is usually made of aluminum or a similar material. It is treated chemically so that only the image areas attract ink while the non-image areas repel it.

3.Inking: The plate is dampened with water and ink. The ink adheres to the image areas of the plate, while the water repels ink from the non-image areas.

4.Printing Process: The inked image is then transferred from the plate to a rubber blanket and finally onto the paper or other material. This indirect transfer is what gives offset printing its name.

5.Color and Quality: Offset printing can reproduce full-color images and photographs with high fidelity. It's known for its consistent and high-quality results, making it suitable for large print runs and projects requiring vibrant colors and fine details.

6. Applications: Offset printing is commonly used for producing newspapers, magazines, brochures, stationery, books, and other printed materials in large quantities.

From planning and filing to the completion of printed matter, printing must go through many procedures, combined with the professional skills of countless people, such as graphic designers, commercial photographers, copywriters, typewriters, artists, color separation technicians, printing technicians, Public workers, printing technicians, bookbinding, varnishing and various processing technicians, etc., without any one, can not successfully complete the printed matter, so they are all important contributors.
